Okay so follow up, Evelyn had and amazing party in which she got to play with a lot of little girls. It was so much fun.
Well probably 24-48 hours later she received the chicken pox. We are getting a blood test later on just to be sure (if it wasn’t chicken pox than we would like to get her the vaccine) but she did get a rash very similar to chicken pox. It has been a very mild case, thankfully. They say the younger they are, the more mild the disease will be. Evelyn, being three, it better be mild. Either way…my momma wellness kicked into overdrive. If their is one thing in the world that breaks me , its seeing my child in pain. So lets avoid that shall we.
I am a full supporter in home remedies. I feel from my own personal experience, that home remedies work best for Evelyn. So instead of going to the store and paying for something over the counter that Evelyn may or may not take at her own free will…I went for the natural route.
I instantly started researching at what I can do to make this easier on my baby….ta da! Found a old wives tale recipe that I edited to my own version.
1 cup of oats
1/2 cup of baking soda
2 tablespoons of coconut oil
This oatmeal bath was a great success! I put all of the ingredients into an old sock and wrapped it around the tub faucet with a rubber band. Then I started Evelyn’s bath by running luke warm water and it went through the concoction I made. By the time Evelyn’s bath was over, she smelled like oatmeal and had the babiest of baby skin feel:)
Tip: I would make sure to squeeze the sock every now and then to get as much oat starch into the water as possible.
I gave her a bath, like this, for three days in a row and her chicken pox is now fully healed and I can honestly say that a lot of tears were not shed from itchiness besides the first day of realizing she had gotten them.
So if your child or you know of someone suffering, offer this home remedy to ease the pain and help clear it out as soon as possible!
Why did I choose this ingredients? Look below!
Baking soda prevents itchiness (super helpful with the chicken pox)
Coconut oil, as well all know by know, has so many medicinal properties. In this instance….we are taking advantage of the anti-fungal and skin healing properties found within coconut oil.
Oatmeal enhances the immune system, has a healing property that aids hairs, skin, and nails, and makes you smell heavenly.
Add it all together and what do you get? Bippity, boppity, awesome almost cure to chicken pox!
