Oh. My. Goodness.
My face has never felt so alive before!! Something a little off the wall to say because my face has always felt alive though I had never given much thought but then I tried this scrub. And, well yeah, now my face feels like a whole new face:) Never thought I would be saying that.
Below are the magic ingredients!
When winter hits, like most people from the north, our lips get chapped and our skin gets dry. Maybe I’m crazy but every year I have to buy a special hand lotion other wise my hands get really itchy. Well this year my face was getting really irritable so I decided to try a scrub. I looked up the ingredients and a variety of blends on the best known search engine ever. Pinterest. BOOM! Gotta love you some pinterest! And their are so many DIY scrubs to choose from and are so easy to make. The one I am making is just TWO ingredients and works magic!
For most scrubs you would most likely have all the ingredients in your kitchen and it only takes maybe ten minutes TOPS. I may even be exaggerating. Its probably more like 5 minutes, but when you have a kiddie wanting to help and shes just to darn cute to say no too…. minutes add up to more like ten. But its totally worth it. Both the scrub and watching Evelyn be so proud of herself at making her first scrub at two years old.
We did use used coffee grounds. In the summer I like to throw them in the garden to help give the plants a boost and in the winter I now know I can store them for scrubs and such!
The outcome was really spectacular! With both the texture and the smell which was really powerful! Its my favorite smell in the morning. Mmmmmmm coffee! You just can’t go wrong with that.
I decided I would try something a little different and use muffin tins as molds for the scrub. This way I can just pop it out and head to the shower. And I won’t be taking up space in my cabinets. We don’t have a lot of storage so this choice of using molds really benefited us.
1/2 cup of fresh coffee grounds
1/2 cup of coconut oil
Throw used or fresh coffee grounds into a bowl. Heat up half a cup of coconut oil and put in the bowl with the coffee grounds. Stir together and stick in cupcake filters in muffin tin ( I think this is an important step because I didn’t do it and it was harder to get the molds out after freezing). Stick in freezer for fives minutes and pull out.
Coffee uses on skin has several benefits that include: exfoliating and anti-inflammatory properties, temporary reduction of cellulite, improved circulation, reduced eye puffiness, and smooth skin. Something I find very interesting is that it protects our face from sun damage and can also reverse the sun damage you have already done to your skin. Thats really great to know because I don’t feel like their are a lot of products that have this capability and its right there in your coffee maker. Coffee is also know as an anti-ager. Yippee!!! Lets be friends:)
Coconut is virtually known around the globe here recently all the amazing benefits it has for your body, hair, food. Its awesome you name it! When we break it down to this scrub specifically though the healing qualities are just jaw dropping. Its an excellent moisturizer and makes the face more shinier. Coconut oil is naturally antibacterial, anti fungal so this will help clear any acne and keep your skin healthy.
Not to mention how cute they look, After I popped them out of my coffee tin, I went straight to the bathroom to try this out. The outcome was astonishing. It felt like all my dead skin cells were gone and only my new ones were there and they were shiny, bright, and fresh! Plus the smell lingers on your skin which was just fabulous! I can’t wait for you all to try!
