Thank goodness it’s Friday!! I didn’t put up a post yesterday, as you may know, I had set myself a goal to try and post every single day until I got a certain number! And, well, I got the number of posts I wanted! So yesterday was break day for me. It’s good to have those every now and then so you don’t wear yourself down. From now on I will be posting every other day (Sometimes I will every day because I love creating recipes and drinks, etc to share with all of you!)
Soooooo today I have a smoothie for all of you! Don’t shy away just because it is green. It is quite scrumptious and filling. I drink these a lot in the warm months to cool myself down and hydrate my body to the fullest. Today, I am dragging my feet this morning. Evelyn didn’t sleep the greatest last night due to a runny nose. So what better way to get a good boost for the day than a green smoothie! Green smoothies have been the turn of the century in the plant based world. Same with juicing. I prefer smoothies though, I like texture and you get the fiber from the fruit too but both are amazing in getting the most nutrients in your body in one sitting. Today is your basic green smoothie that contains three ingredients. Mostly because I really need to go to the store for more fruit and also because its easy and I needed something easy this morning.
1 frozen banana
½ cup of spinach
2 cups of water
Optional: 1 tablespoon of chia seeds
Throw all ingredients in blender and press the go button! Its best if you put the banana on top and spinach on the bottom when blending.
I have started smoothies up about 6 years ago and have mastered how I like my smoothies! Muahahah!
However I do still experiment and learn more every day so I don’t get bored, its always fun to mix it up! Something I do and would recommend to anyone is freezing your bananas. I buy organic bananas from our local store and they are usually green. I wait for them to get really spotting then peel them, cut them in half and throw them in the freezer. I then put there peels in our garden for composting.
Waiting for bananas to spot is crucial, you want your banana to be over ripe. When the banana is in this form it produces an anti-cancer substance called TNF (tumor necrosis factor) that combats cancer cells. In this day and age, anything anticancer I go for. I am especially aware of the disease due to the fact that I have had a lot of family diagnosed with different forms of cancer and I want to do anything to prevent that both for myself, my family, and most of all, Evelyn. So go for the spotty bananas!
Boost your Friday, or any day for that matter, with a smoothie in the morning. It’s great on your digestion and gets you glowing for the rest of they day!
Well we are off to the store! I included a picture of my daughter this morning because she always makes me smile and I wanna spread the joy! In this picture she was in the mood to paint our finger nails and put lipstick on my face, oh I mean lips. Thanks Ev!
