Nutritional Yeast…that’s to make bread right? Or pizza dough??
Wrong yeast sugar. 🙂
Nutritional Yeast is often known and common in the vegan community to associate the cheesy flavor in dishes. I use it in quite of few of mine, such as cashew cheese and walnut dill dressing, faux mac n cheese, and many more staples in our household.
I never really understood the name, it can be a little misleading.
So I looked into it to know the 411 on nutritional yeast and here is what I found..
- Nutritional yeast, depending on the manufacturer, is sometimes fortified with B12 which is crucial in a vegan diets.
- 5 grams of carbs
- 9 grams complete Protein (contains all amino acids with it… cha ching for your body)
- B1 &b2 vitamins
- Super yummy
I like it in soups and when I make homemade cheese! What recipes do you like to use it in?
Fun discoveries, like this one, can change your whole outlook on a vegan diet. Where some ( I have been there) miss the creaminess of cheese or the flavor of it, I can honestly say I don’t miss it anymore because I can have it with this beauty!
Thanks nutritional yeast!
Okay yeah, short post but I just really wanted to get this out there and see it has more to it than just the flavor… it’s got nutrients too!
Personal Note: I am wanting to crawl into a heated blanket at the moment with this chilly spring weather we are having. Thinking of putting on a pot of chili? Future post possibly!
Also, Evelyn is starting gymnastics this next week and she is just so excited! So am I, I can’t wait to see my sweet girl doing tumbles around the floor. She has also been doing yoga with me which is so much fun. I think it encourages both of us to do it often because of the good quality we get with each other and the giggles that go with it. My favorite pose that she does is the mountain pose. She looks like such a strong person when she closes her eyes and looks up. Proud momma right here!
Have a wonderful weekend!
