In my home, if anyone is sick or a rash comes up, home remedies is my go to.
It hasn’t always been this way, I used to go straight to the store when Evelyn was an infant for a diaper rash or a small cough. Her first year I had a lot of health difficulties with her, plus the paranoia of being a first time mother. Needless to say, I was disappointed. Over and over again and I felt like I was pumping over the counter chemicals in my child, so I stopped. And started to do my own research.
Note: I am extremely grateful for today’s modern medicine, I will say that some of our over the counter medicines are junk, but super thankful for our doctors in medicine today none the least. This is all my personal opinion and you do whatever you think is best for your family.
Bath salts, what does this have to do with bath salts? Well our daughter came down with a few curios marks on her body one day. Like little mosquito bites, only two, in December…what?
I didn’t do anything right away, I put some coconut oil on them because she said it was a little itchy and then all was well. Then a few more came up the next week. And a few more.
In conclusion, they were flea bites. Ugh I know, don’t judge!!!!
My daughter’s room is the only room in the house that has carpet and we recently have been letting our dog sleep with her at night, who may or may not have missed his flea medicine last month.
Solution; we ripped out the carpet, it needed to happen this year anyway (it came with the house and was super old..and ugly). So problem solved and our dog has had his medicine so we are good to go.
Now, again, back to bath salts!
I gave my wee one a bath with a few drops of tea tree oil and some peppermint bath salts I received as a homemade christmas gift. As you can see by the pictures I have been putting them to good use.
The result of these peppermint bath salts, no more itchiness and the bites were significantly less red and smaller by morning.
Bath salts, natural sea salt bath salts, are very healthy for our skin. I threw in tea tree oil because it promotes healthy skin growth. What the bath salts did for Evelyn:
- Increase blood circulation
- Aids balancing skin moisture
- Lymphatic fluid balance
- Boosts immune system
- Purifies pores
This wonderful sea salt you see pictured above helped Evelyn’s bites disappear, and thanks to her father ripping out the carpet, we no longer have to deal with any of that craziness and I am so glad we nipped it in the bud when we did.
