The benefits of coconut oil seem to be endless! You can use it most commonly in cooking but also in scrubs, shampoo, toothpaste, lotions, home remedies and many other things!
Coconut oil is such a bang in this era and has dated back to the ancient times. It is considered the healthiest oil on the planet, and is used globally.
So what is so great about coconut oil? Where to start….hmmmmmm….we commonly use it through indegestion….fancy word for cooking and eating it hehe. It contains good cholesterol, good saturated fats, antimicrobial, antioxidant, antifungal, antibacterial and soothing properties/qualities.
Here is a list of benefits when using coconut oil.
If you suffer from poor digestion or tummy bloating try adding coconut oil to your palette to treat and/or aid in digestive issues.
Coconut oil is easy to digest, but also produces a longer sustained energy and increases your metabolism. When intaking unprocessed coconut oil (I use organic cold pressed), you can reap the most benefits. The fatty acids are sent directly to the liver to be converted into energy! Which means you are more motivated to move and get going on that exercise routine you have been meaning to take up. See ya later unwanted pounds!
People who consume coconut oil have a non-existent rate of cardiovascular disease. Coconut oil is high in natural saturated fats. Saturated fats increase the healthy cholesterol in your body AND help convert the “bad” cholesterol into good cholesterol’s.
It helps promote heart health tremendously, and lowers the risk of heart disease in the future.
I feel like people always forget about the brain. I know it sounds silly but you always hear, “that will give you a heart attack” or, “ It’s good for your bones” . But the brain is a huge (haha) when it comes to your health. Like my previous post on improving your mental health, here is an addition to that. Coconut oil is beneficial in improving cognitive function. It prevents neurodegenerative diseases (like Alzheimer’s which is a very common disease in this day and age) in its early stages. That is so crazy amazing in my eyes.
Coconut Oil is also great for many other parts of the body such as; tooth decay/protection, yeast infections (sorry if getting a little to personal), anti aging, hair benefits, skin issues such as eczema or dandruff, etc. The list goes on….isn’t it so amazing? I mean truly.
Also, I am drinking my cup of coffee this morning and added a tsp of coconut oil to help reap the benefits. It is surprisingly yummy, I wasn’t sure what to expect but it’s good! A little funky looking but delicious all the same…plus the coconut oil has added a nice smooth coat on my lips which is refreshing considering the winter air has made them chapped as of late!
If you take away anything from this post today, I want you to truly realize that yes, these recipes/ingredients/ideas are pretty cool, scrumptious, and inventive…. but most of all I want you to take in the fact that YOU can treat your body through food. That truly….”food is thy medicine”.
This is one of my favorite mugs, though it may look ugly….it was my moms when I was growing up and and at the base/bottom of the mug, the dot dot dot leads to, “especially if you find someone romantic to share it with!”. I just think it’s my adorable ugly mug that I love to sip coffee/tea out of in my jammies!
And its about 25 years old so lets show respect and give applaud eh? And to coconut oil! Whoop whoop!
