Alright so pretty soon you will find out that I am a garlic nut. It brings so much flavor to the table and is definitely a staple in our diet. I use it in entrees, in dressings, I even love it pickled….its a problem…or not? Turns out garlic is so amazing for your body in so many ways that I am going to refer it as super garlic because it deserves the reference ( I got your back super garlic;)).
Below are five benefits of garlic both through consumption or a lazy day in the house and you have time for a home remedy!
A quick fix to a pimple can be cured by cutting a freshly piece of raw garlic and apply a little pressure on it to release some juice and then rub this garlic pod on the blemish. Leave it for 5 minutes and rinse with cold water. Pimple be gone! Give it a day and bye bye!
Prevent Stretch Marks
I saw this and I was like what?!? Hold up let me right this down hehe. Apparently hot oil massage is one of the most commonly suggested home remedy for stretch marks. To make more effective, add juice from crushed garlic in the hot oil. Use this oil regularly on your stretch marks and you will soon begin to notice the difference in just a couple weeks. Yippee!
Stimulates Hair Growth
The allicin in garlic increases blood circulation in the scalp and therefore reduces hair from falling out and stimulates hair growth. Garlic also has anti-fungal properties that helps in treating dandruff and itchy scalp.
Lowers Blood Pressure
If you are looking to lower your blood pressure, then raw garlic can do wonders for you. Studies have shown that approximately 1500 mg of garlic extract is as effective as medication prescribed for high blood pressure. Garlic has a high amount of polysulfides which results in smooth muscle relaxation. Breathe in garlic, Exhale garlic. Okay corny I know but who knew!
Lowers Risk of Heart Diseases
Garlic is also effective in lowering the risk of heart related problems. It is believed that garlic can help lower the activity of the main enzyme that produces cholesterol in the liver. In addition, garlic can increase the ability of the body to dissolve blood clots. Whoo hoo thanks super garlic!
So that is just a few benefits to say the least. After doing this research I am already trying to incorporate even more garlic into my diet and home remedies. We will see if the husband runs away from me when I get home (due to the effect it has on the my breath) but hey it is totally worth it when I know what it is doing for my body!
