Good morning everyone.
I started the day off right by going on a morning hike. I was blessed with extremely wanting grandparents, I let our daughter stay the night on Friday. I took advantage of the good night sleep, but their is always a mothers fighting guilt with being away from her child? I know it happens to me whenever I am without my girl.
It’s important and healthy to make time for yourself. I always try to tell myself to be strong, but its always the guilt is always their nagging at me. I love being reunited with my girl! It helps if I am sick or just need “me” time. Though it doesn’t happen often, I do try to get a nice restful sleep!
I was able to wake up at 8:00 (never happens and I think my body really needed it!) and drink a whole bunch of water with lemon. You know it’s my favorite! And then I put on some crisp clothes and headed out to wander the ongoing forest beyond our backyard.
It was absolutely stunning. I was able to appreciate nature, accumulate my thoughts, and get a decent exercise. I hike for about an hour when I can. Evelyn definitely inherited hiking genes, she’s always wanting to go a bit further, discover what lays beyond just a little bit more. Just thinking about it makes me smile. Seeing myself in my wee one is a feeling I can’t describe other than magical.
So today I have for you two items in the drink category. My not so secret tea and a tropical smoothie! Yippee!
My smoothie was a last minute decision that turned out to be quite delicious. I haven’t been to the grocery this week mainly due to procrastination so in these cases I solely rely on my freezer stock for smoothies.
½ cup spinach
1/2 cup of frozen pineapple
2 tablespoons of applesauce
Result: a nice refreshing “ahhh” moment.
Organic green tea leaves
1/2 tsp of turmeric
1 mug of hot water
Result: energy lasting the entire day…sign me up
I also really enjoy getting my tea leaves in whole form. More simple, and fun to play around with. Plus they are super cute in pictures.
Both recipes are great if you are in need for energy and your looking for ways to perk up your morning. When I refer to my freezer stock, I really can’t express just how important it is to have one. Bananas are a must and any fruit thrown into a bag the was at its prime and I just wasn’t up to eating it. Freezer friendly bags are sold at the store and will last forever it seems. I always like to think the the fruits are “frozen” in time. ha! Plus it’s so nice in instances in these….when I just don’t have the produce on hand.
I hope all of you have a weekend for of love and good food. Time to do some crafts with my girl and make some lunch for the hubs! Fuel your body this morning!
